YEREVAN, May 22 (Noyan Tapan). The renovation of the VIP-lounge of the Zvartnots airport is over, the "Armenian International Airports" company commercial director Joan-Paolo Kechijian told journalists. Almost $2mln. were spent on construction and equipment of the hall. Answering the question why such a large sum was spent on renovation of a ready-construct, the commercial director pointed out that the greater part of the work is unseen to the eye. In particular, the air-conditioning system is installed, lavatories are equipped with boots for disabled persons, etc.
Apart from services of passengers checking and control, a business-center equipped in line with modern communication technologies, duty-free store and cafes are functioning in the lounge. The cost for VIP-services doubled amounting to 25,000 drams (around $42) instead of the previous 13,000 drams, Mr. Kechijian said. The parking cost amounts to 3,000 drams. The regular passengers lounges have also been partially renovated. New arrivals lounge construction will be initiated this year, Mr. Kechijian claimed.
The total amount of investments in the airport together with
the sum to be spent by the end of the year will reach $18-20mln. The passengers
service prices are in line with the international standards, the airport management
believes. In particular, one luggage trolley rent is 800 ($1.5) combined with
a porter's service - 2,500 drams. Meanwhile, to rent a trolley at the Paris
airport Roissy/Charles de Gaulle one is to pay 1 franc (15 cents) which are
refunded once you are done using the trolley.
