Making Magic In Watch Land

These words best represent the high art of Swiss watch making, which was born many centuries ago in the jewellery workshops of Geneva.

Since 1991, when the Franck Muller Company was established, its watches have seemed inspired with the spirit of the discoveries made by those people of genius many years ago in their workshops on the mountain slopes. Traditionally, the excellence of Swiss watchmakers has been well known. Henceforward, it will be confirmed in Armenia as well. With its unique work at the summit of the art of watch making, the name Franck Muller ranks with those of the greatest masters of the past.

During the visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia to Geneva on September 9, 2000, after the business forum and the meetings of the members of the delegation, Franck Muller Watchland S. A. Company initiated the development of extensive investment activity in Armenia. Based on the results of the preliminary negotiations with the appropriate organizations, the company planned to implement a package of investment projects which would involve investment activity in different sectors of economy such as watch production, jewelry, agriculture, particularly the wheat industry, retail trade, and training programs.

Franck Muller has improved and intensified the search for new ways to manufacture watch parts. In the beauty and exactness of clockwork construction, each element is of key importance. Franck Muller has added pages to the history of watch making with its masterpieces. The company has already invested about $1 million to obtain and refit the proposed factory. It is expected that in the near future, ten to twelve lathes will be delivered to Armenia, destined for the production of watch parts. Machines such as the Numerical Control Robodrill will be among them, according to a Special Decree of the government of Switzerland, to be part of the Machine Park of the Armenian branch of the Swiss company Franck Muller.

The first stage of the production cycle will take place on the shores of Lake Sevan, and then the watches will be sent to Yerevan for completion, to produce Franck Muller trademark watches of Armenian origin. The company will also establish a school for training and retraining young specialists, forming a special foundation, in which the company is ready to invest about $200-300 th. Franck Muller intends to open its trademark shop here, as well as to continue investment activities in other sectors of the Armenian economy. The branch, registered on January 25 of this year in Armenia, provides an opportunity to launch high quality production. "I hope that soon products bearing the mark 'Made in Armenia' will occupy their deserved place on the world market," says Georgi Muradyan, Director of Franck Muller's branch in Armenia, "We will do our best for our country to win recognition in this sphere of high technology."
