YEREVAN, May 8 (Noyan Tapan). The tendency when large companies devour the smaller ones is not observed in the sphere of jewelry production. On the contrary, the number of individual jewelers, as well as small and medium-sized companies is growing from year to year. Chairman of the board of directors of the "Yerevan Jewelry Factory" OJSC said this at the May 8 opening ceremony of the sixth "Jewelry 2003" international exhibition. He added that the sphere is also developing due to the current legislation. Meanwhile, he noted the necessity of providing favorable conditions for the activities of trade companies.
According to Grigorian, such exhibitions must turn into "free economic zones." This will make it possible to involve famous international producers and trade companies as well. After walking around the exhibition sites, Armenian President Robert Kocharian said that he had heard no essential complaints from the participants. According to him, the new developments of the sphere are also noteworthy and we should also think towards creating large trade companies. About fifty companies from Russia, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Ukraine, Canada, Turkey and Italy are participating in the selling exhibition held on May 8-12.
