YEREVAN, May 27. /ARKA/. Parliamentary elections and referendum
in Armenia were not democratic, National Democratic Institute for International
Affairs, NDI Patrick Merloe stated today in Yerevan. According to preliminary
statement of NDI, election process in Armenia took place in the atmosphere of
cynicism and distrust”. However, according to Merloe, political parties
conducted active pre-election campaign and local observers and public organizations
could observe the elections. “In result there much less violations than
during presidential elections”, he said.
National Democratic Institute for International Affairs is a non-commercial
organization, with central office in Washington. The goal of the organization
is expansion of democratic principles in the world.
RA Parliamentary Elections were held on May 25. The Republican Party of Armenia
is leading with 24.63% votes (162223) as of 17.00. Justice bloc goes after Republican
party with 14.03% votes (92439). Orinats Yerkir is the third with 11.78% votes
(77564), Dashnaktsutyun – 10.46% (68871), National Unity – 9.6%
(63594), United Labor Party – 5.24% (34540)
