New York - The AGBU Young Professionals of Greater New York (AGBU YPGNY) on Friday, May 16, hosted a chic club event at Soho's Void to help promote AGBU FOCUS 2003 festivities nearing this July in Montreal and raise funds for the American University of Armenia's (AUA) Digital Library.
Lead organizer of FOCUS 2001 Ani Setrakian was delighted, "It was great to receive such support from the AGBU YPGNY to raise awareness for this year's FOCUS festivities in Montreal. Two years ago, FOCUS 2001 made a donation on behalf of the AGBU Young Professionals to AUA's Digital Library and now YPGNY is continuing to further this endeavor. It is great to see Armenian youth helping one another to better serve the community. I look forward to seeing all the people who attended the Void fundraiser in Montreal for AGBU FOCUS 2003 from July 10th to 13th."
AGBU FOCUS 2003 is a biennial event designed for
young Armenian professionals from around the world to come together, exchange
ideas, and celebrate the contributions AGBU has provided to Armenians internationally.
Building on the success of AGBU FOCUS 2001 in New York City, past participants
and present members of AGBU's major youth programs will unify once again from
July 10 to 13, 2003, in Montreal, Canada. The weekend promises to be a most
remarkable and worthwhile weekend event full of diverse activities, including
workshops, cultural events and social affairs all oriented toward young professionally-aged
Armenians.
Close to $1500 in proceeds was raised this evening from its 150 attendees which
will benefit the AUA Digital Library. The Digital Library is a web-based tool
providing AUA students and faculty with access to international journals to
further their studies and research.
