YEREVAN, May 12 (Noyan Tapan). A budget grant of 9.5 mln euros will be allocated to Armenia under the European Commission's Food Security Program this year. Program executive Gnel Sedrakian told NT that the memorandum on the grant was signed on April 25 by Armenia's Finance and Economy Minister Vardan Khachatrian and EuropAid Director F. De Angelis.
The grant will be directed to the financing of budget programs
in four departments of Armenia (Ministry of Social Security, Minister of Agriculture,
National Statistical Service and State Committee of Realty Cadaster). The grant
is provided for the purpose of carrying out structural reforms in corresponding
spheres. Sedrakian also said that the European Commission will transfer another
grant of 9.5 mln euros to Armenia's state budget under the same program in 2004.
Armenia received a total of 57.5 mln euros in aid under the EC's Food Security
Program in the period from 1996 to 2002.
