EU Supports Armenia In Search For
Alternative Sources of Energy

JUNE 4, NOYAN TAPAN. The issue of the need to close the Armenian nuclear power plant continues to remain in the center of attention of the European Union. That's why the EU is helping Armenia in the matter of finding economically advantageous alternative sources of energy. This was stated by representative of the EU delegation, Ambassador of Greece to Armenia Antonios Vlavianos after the end of the fourth meeting of the EU-Armenia Cooperation Committee on June 4. In the Ambassador's opinion, it is necessary to find a variant that would be acceptable for all sides.

According to Armenia's Minister of Trade and Economic Development Karen Chshmaritian, the Armenian side thinks that it is necessary to find alternative sources that would maintain the energy balance in the country. It was pointed out that the EU supports such an approach. Chshmaritian also said that the meeting discussed issues of accessibility of the European market for Armenian companies, establishment of a regional center on information technologies in Armenia.
