Fourth Meeting of EU-Armenia
Cooperation Committee Wraps Up In Yerevan

JUNE 4, NOYAN TAPAN. High macroeconomic indices of Armenia satisfy the European Union. As EU representatives said during the fourth meeting of the EU-Armenia Cooperation Committee on June 4, it instills them with hope that these indices will get further stabilized. At the same time, they stressed the topicality of improvement in the country's investment and business environment, establishment of rule of law, decisive struggle against corruption. The meeting participants stressed the importance of Armenia's fulfilling its obligations stipulated in the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement during the transition period.

The European Union is going to help Armenia in implementing the poverty reduction program, in developing the IT sphere. In particular, the meeting discussed issues of the recent macroeconomic processes in the EU and Armenia, correspondences of economic showings, cooperation and relief programs. Special attention was paid to the collection of illegal tax pre-payments, the nuclear station's problem and reforming of the energy sphere, as well as the Karabakh problem and the analysis of the 2003 elections in Armenia.
