Project of Large Armenian Companies Reorganization
Implemented With WB Assistance

JUNE 9, NOYAN TAPAN. The RA Department of State Property implements the "Preparatory Project on Reorganization of Companies" with the assistance of the World Bank (WB) with the aim to restore activities of the large Armenian large companies fully or partially idling over the past few years. Four Yerevan companies ("Connect", "Electron", Vitamin Factory and Milling Machines Plant) are expected to be reorganized on the current stage of the implementation of the project, the project coordinator Vacheh Kirakosian told Noyan Tapan.

The regional companies will be involved in the project on the later stages. The research and definition of possible directions for their development and the market's demands staged together with the management of the aforementioned companies are expected to be conducted in terms of the project, Mr. Kirakosian said. The companies without perspective for main production will be proposed to create industrial parks with the consideration to peculiarities of the company in question. Meanwhile, the pattern for exploitation of large companies of the Republic via creation of industrial parks was also elaborated by the business-consulting fund "Hayconsult."

Favorable conditions for the development of small and medium business will be created in the parks, the fund executive director Gagik Makarian said. In particular, companies situated on the territory of the parks will have an opportunity to make use of service offered reciprocally on relatively low tariffs. The Department cooperates with Moldovan experts in terms of the project, for Moldova has acquired a substantial experience and achieved the best results in the sphere of reorganization of companies among the states of the former USSR since 1995, Mr. Kirakosian claimed.
