YEREVAN, MAY 29, ARMENPRESS: An Egyptian delegation that has arrived in Armenia within the scopes of an inter-ministerial agreement signed between the two countries in health area in 1997, has discussed with the Armenian authorities the issue of the establishment of a small production of vaccines in Armenia.
Head of health ministry foreign relations' department Hayk Grigorian said the Egyptian party expressed eagerness to extend support in technological issues, documentation, business plan elaboration, marketing and management. He said that Egyptians are also ready to provide Armenia with the stuff necessary for the production of vaccines. In Hayk Grigorian's words, though Armenia needs vaccines and currently they are brought into the country by different philanthropy channels, it would not be realistic to establish a production of vaccines in Armenia only for the domestic market.
Therefore the Egyptian party is anticipating enlarging the
consumer market to cover the Middle East and Trans-Caucasian countries. In their
words, the production of vaccines in Egypt meets the international GMP standards.
According to the head of the department, the Egyptian party has familiarized
itself with Armenia's possibilities and is soon expected to present its business
offer. During the visit mutual cooperation was established between Egyptian
and Armenian clinics and medical centers.
