the Children Spent $38 Million in Armenia

YEREVAN
The total cost of the Save the Children (SC/Armenia) programs,
fulfilled in Armenia in the last 10 years came to $38 million.
It was announced by the director of the Save the Children department
in Armenia, Michael McGrat.
At
the beginning of its activity SC/Armenia realized projects of
rendering humanitarian help to region, suffered from the earthquake
in 1988. Within the framework of those projects about $16.6
million were assigned. With the financial help of the USAID,
in 1998-2001 the organization provided humanitarian help to
the families, which suffered during the war in Nagorno Karabakh,
to the amount of $9.4 million.
Since
1995 SC/Armenia has worked on development of communities in
Armenia and minor financing. Nowadays the organization realizes
projects in Yerevan and 7 regions in Armenia.
The
international organization Save the Children, Inc. was founded
in 1934 and works in 45 countries. The organizationšs budget
equaled $119 in FY2001.
