YEREVAN, OCTOBER 30, ARMENPRESS: The presentation ceremony and
the opening of an exhibition displaying some 160 books, donated
by the American Institution of Armenian Culture to the National
Libraray, was held today in Yerevan.
The
head of the Library David Sarkisian said that some 160 books,
154 of them in English, 1 in French and the rest in Armenian,
were bought at the US National Association of Armenian Studies
and Researches book shop and consigned to the library.
The
majority of the books were published since 1900 and mainly refer
to the history of Armenia, the Armenian Genocide, Karabakh conflict,
relations between Armenia and regional countries, Armenian language
and art.
The
books were bought by the money, donated by an American-Armenian
benefactor Alice Ohanasian to enrich the literature in the National
Library. This year the library received more than 1,700 books
from private benefactors from USA, Iran, France, Brazil, as
well as from the US Congress.
