The Melkonian Educational Institute (MEI) is a 75-year-old secondary, coeducational, boarding a day school that prepares students foe higher education in a safe and supportive environment. The school facilities, which include a rich library, a modern computer multimedia lab, science e labs, a language lab and multipurpose sports facilities and designed to satisfy the specifications expected from a modern educational establishment. The boarding facilities are open for children of Armenian descent and residents of Cyprus.

• The Melkonian School adopts a comprehensive curriculum.
• The language of instruction is English, Armenian language, literature and history, which construes an essential part of its academic program, are taught in Armenia
• Special lessons are given to students with insufficient proficiency levels in Armenia and English.
• Students are also taught French, Greek, Arabic, Bulgarian, and Russian.
• The school is for pupils aged 12-18.
• The school curriculum is based on international standards, primarily British curriculum, Students are prepared for international exams, the British General certificate of Education exams, IGGS and GCE "A" levels. ("A" Level exams are comparable to American AP).
• The school prepares the students to satisfy the entrance requirements of reputable European and American universities, such as the American SAT 1 & 11 (Scholastic Aptitude T-SSTs) and TOEFL.
• Computer Studies in all classes (Student computer ratio is 1:10).

• The Melkonian Educational Institute has a Counselor as a full-staff member who also acts as the Careers Advisor for the students.
• The special education program is implemented by the Class Advisory who closely monitors the students' academic, social and personal development.
• Extra curricular activities include art, folk-dance, choir, brass-band, journalism, sculpture, the theatre, girl quads, boy scouts and sports & athletics. Through its participator, in the duke of Edinburg International Award Scheme, a unique opportunity is created for the students' extracurricular activities to be evaluated on an international level, by receiving Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.
• The Melkonian Educational institute is recognized Center for University of London Exams Edexcel foundation and an Affiliate Center for University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate.
