|
The
"Young Virtuosos" ensemble of the Armenian Missionary Association
of America (AMAA) was founded in August 1996, in Yerevan under
the direction and leadership of the AMAA Representative in Armenia,
Rev. Rene Leonian, together with Samvel Avanessian as the Artistic
Director. It was one of the favorite projects of the late Rev.
Movses Janbazian, the Executive Director of the Association.
The ensemble is made up of 6 children aged 9-14 years who study
at top music schools in Yerevan.
In a very short period of time the group became famous and loved
both by Armenian and non- Armenian audiences. The "Young Virtuosos"
have given concerts in various cities in Armenia as well as
in Europe (Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Strasburg, Valence, London,
etc.), in the Middle East (Lebanon, Syria), in the U.S. and
Canada. They have also appeared on Armenian and French TV.
February
27 March 24 the "Young Virtuosos" ensemble gave concerts in
Australia, having received an invitation from the Armenian Evangelical
Church of Australia. The children performed in Sydney (2 big
concerts), in Melbourne (2 concerts), in Armenian and non-Armenian
schools. On their way back they stayed in the Arabic Emirates
for 4 days, where they gave 2 more concerts.
This "Young Virtuosos" ensemble of the AMAA is a great joy and
source of pride for Armenia. This ensemble is part of the various
programs of the AMAA (humanitarian, cultural, educational and
Christian education). Through this program the AMAA wishes to
encourage the talented young people of Armenia.
