"YergYergots" Chorus Visits France
|
The
"Yerg-Yergots" (Song o Songs) women' chorus of the Armenian
Missionary Association, founded in March 1997, in Yerevan, gave
concerts in France, from March 8-29, 2001. This was their first
performance outside the borders of Armenia. They were invited
by the Armenian Evangelical Church of France, and the purpose
of their trip was the spreading of the Gospel, in connection
with the 1700th anniversary of the adoption of Christianity
as a state religion in Armenia.
The choir gave 12 concerts during their stay. They performed
spiritual and traditional songs in Paris, Lyon, Valence and
Marseilles.
The
choir was warmly received wherever they performed, proving that
the Armenian youth is alive and that it brings joy to the Armenian
Diaspora in France.
During the past 10 years the AMAA has carried out Christian
Education programs for children, teenagers and the young people
of Armenia. Wečll write a more detailed description of these
programs in one of our future letters. The "Yerg-Yergots" choir
is a direct result of these programs, and wečre glad that the
young believers of Armenia pass on their faith with great vigor
inside and outside of their homeland.
